Welcome to my photography portfolio.
My name is Karl Sammut, and I am a photographer based in Malta.
Photography has long been a passion of mine, with a particular fascination for black-and-white imagery and its ability to convey atmosphere, emotion and simplicity. My work encompasses architectural fine art, minimalist landscapes and black-and-white street photography, with a particular interest in the dramatic and evocative qualities of noir.
I am drawn to the interplay of light and shadow, geometry, contrast and negative space. In architectural photography, I seek to interpret structures beyond their physical appearance, emphasising form, abstraction and tonal expression. My landscape photography explores stillness, atmosphere and simplicity, while my street photography, particularly my noir work, explores solitude, mystery and the fleeting moments of everyday life.
My approach is guided by the belief that photography is not merely about recording what we see, but about interpreting it. Through careful composition, deliberate use of light and shadow and expressive monochrome processing, I aim to create photographs that evoke emotion, invite contemplation and leave room for the viewer’s own interpretation.
